The Aspect Prize
The Aspect Prize, generously supported by Aspect Capital, is one of the largest prizes for painting in the UK. It is awarded each year to four Scottish painters who have not had a commercial solo exhibition in London during the past 6 years. The Aspect Prize is open to all and is an enormous opportunity for any emerging artist to pursue painting as a full time career. The initial concept for the prize was provided by an art collector who lives in Scotland.
The prize is supported by the Paisley Art Institute which hosts the Aspect Prize Exhibition each year. In addition to the opportunity to exhibit at a London gallery in early 2009, the four finalists receive £6,000 and the eventual winner, to be announced at the London exhibition, will receive an additional £10,000 for a total prize of £16,000.
The 2007 prize received almost 200 entries. The four finalists were Jean-Pierre Lapeyre, Eoghann MacColl, Robert MacMillan and Katie Pope.
Katie Pope was the overall winner and received an additional cheque for £10,000 at Gallery 7 in Cork Street, London in April. Her winning submission appears on this page
Full details of previous winners and their entries can be seen in the “Winner” and “Shortlist" sections.
